Fluorescent tube lighting unit for standard T8 fluorescent tubes. This light system does not have a solid frame structure, which makes it very light, compact and easy to use in different situations.

This unit can be used to illuminate aquariums, terrariums, birds, miniature greenhouses etc. plant growing applications or it can be used as a support light for houseplants or as a part of general illumination. It is compatible with all types of T8 tubes including UV tubes.

This lighting system contains an electronic ballast unit with power switch and fluorescent tube end caps that are connected with cables. When a fluorescent tube is attached between the end caps, it works as a frame on which a separate reflector can be attached. Tube end caps are less than 10mm thicker than the T8 fluorescent tube itself and the end caps add approximately 30mm to the tube length. With an additional reflector, the total height of the lighting unit is only 38mm.

This lighting set set includes plastic attachment pieces for fixed mounting, or it can be simply placed on top of an aquarium / terrarium cover. As the tube ends and the fluorescent tube are very light, the unit can be hung easily with wires or strong fishing line.

This set does not include a reflector, which is available as an accessory. Reflector improves the lighting efficiency by directing all produced light to the target and prevents glare to unwanted directions. Reflector also improves the looks, making the set look like a slim normal style aquarium light.

NOTE! Although the construction does not automatically limit fluorescent tube length to the correct size like solid frame light systems do, this device is designed to be used only with the specified tube size / power.
