Coconut fiber substrate is optimal for moist terrariums as cocopeat has an excellent water retention capacity while it maintains air porosity and unlike normal soil, it does not decompose. For the same reasons cocopeat is nowadays used in exotic plant nurseries as potting substrate instead of traditional potting soils and it is very suitable for all houseplants that are grown in peat based soil.
